Devon Nicoll Oviedo began her violin studies at the age of three in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Since 2002, she has been a member of the New England Symphonic Ensemble. With the ensemble, Devon performs regularly at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and has traveled to over 30 countries. Some of the highlights of her international performances include playing in the Dome Cathedral for the opening of the 2008 and 2009 Salzburg Festivals in Austria; performing for the Princess of Thailand in Bangkok; participating in the Festival of the Aegean in Syros, Greece and in the International String Workshop in Graz, Austria; and raising money and playing for AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe. Other favorite venues include the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.; St. Martin and the Fields in London, England; and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. As a freelance musician, Devon performs with numerous ensembles in the Washington D.C. area.
She maintains a large and diverse private teaching studio and is on faculty at Norwood School, in Bethesda, MD, as a lower school strings teacher. Her primary teachers have included Laurie Redmer Minner, Virginia Gene Rittenhouse, Marylou Speaker-Churchill and Gerald Fischbach. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree, cum laude, from Washington Adventist University. University
